WHY PARENTS LOVE OUR PROGRAM

Building confident, kind, and resilient kids.

Our approach goes beyond kicks and punches. We use karate as a vehicle to teach life skills that follow your child home, to school, and into every new challenge they face.

Focus & listening skills

Through clear instructions and fun challenges, kids learn to follow directions, wait their turn, and stay engaged—even when there’s lots of stimulation around them.

Confidence & self‑esteem

We celebrate effort, not perfection. When kids accomplish small goals—like mastering a stance or earning a stripe—they build real, earned confidence that sticks.

Healthy movement & coordination

Karate strengthens balance, posture, and full‑body coordination—especially helpful for kids who are still figuring out where their hands and feet go.

“My child used to be shy and easily distracted—now she raises her hand in class and can’t wait to show us what she learned.”

SAFETY & INCLUSION

A safe, positive space where every child belongs.

We know you’re trusting us with the most important person in your life. That’s why we prioritize safety, kindness, and clear boundaries in everything we do.

  • Professional black‑belt instructors with experience teaching young children
  • No head contact and tightly controlled, age‑appropriate drills
  • Clear rules around respect, personal space, and sportsmanship
  • Clean, well‑maintained mats and training equipment
  • Welcoming environment for kids of all backgrounds and abilities

Not sure if your child will be comfortable? You’re welcome to watch a class first or stay and observe during their trial.

PARENT STORIES

Kids leave smiling, parents notice the difference.

Here’s what local Vancouver families are saying about our Juniors program.

“Our son used to be very nervous in group activities. After a few weeks of classes, he started introducing himself to other kids at the park. The instructors are patient, firm, and so positive.”

Misha P. — Parent of a 6‑year‑old

“The structure of the classes has really helped our daughter with routines at home. She knows what ‘focus position’ means now and uses it when she needs to calm down.”

— Josie T. - Parent of a 5‑year‑old

“We love that the focus is on respect and effort. Our son is excited to earn stripes, but he’s even more proud when his instructors praise his attitude.”

— Max J. - Parent of a 7‑year‑old

FREQUENT QUESTIONS

Everything you want to know before starting.

If you don’t see your question here, reach out and our team will be happy to help.

What should my child wear to their first class?

For the trial class, comfortable athletic clothing is perfect—t‑shirt and shorts or leggings, with bare feet on the mats. If you choose to enroll, we’ll provide information about uniforms (gi) and belt system.

Does my child need any experience to start?

Not at all. Most of our Juniors students are brand new to martial arts. Classes are structured so beginners can jump in safely and feel successful right away, while more experienced kids still feel challenged.

Can I watch my child’s class?

Yes. Parents are welcome to observe from our viewing area. We find that some kids focus better once they’re comfortable with the space, so over time you can decide whether to stay or drop off.

How is discipline handled in class?

We use clear expectations, positive reinforcement, and firm but kind guidance. If a child is struggling to follow rules, we redirect and, if needed, take a short break to reset. Physical or shaming discipline is never used.

What if my child is shy, very energetic, or neurodivergent?

Many of our students are shy at first, have lots of energy, or learn differently—and they thrive here. Let us know anything helpful about your child before class so we can support them. We’re happy to start slowly and build comfort over time.
